Woman pleads to texting while driving in fatal crash

ALLENTOWN (AP) — A woman has acknowledged texting while driving before her vehicle struck and killed a woman crossing an eastern Pennsylvania street almost two years ago.

Seneca Harley, who turns 23 Wednesday, was scheduled for trial in Lehigh County Court but entered guilty pleas Monday to vehicular homicide, reckless endangerment and prohibited text-based communication.

Investigators said Harley’s phone indicated she was texting about a minute before police were notified about the November 2016 crash in Allentown that killed 56-year-old Patricia Deady.

Police said she went through a red light, collided with a minivan and then struck the victim, who was in a crosswalk.

Defense attorney John Waldron said he plans to present photos and video at sentencing to show that the intersection’s lighting is “very confusing.”

Comments
Dear attorney John Waldron, the thing that confused this young careless gal, was trying to multitask. The shame? A person lost life to a careless person, while the one responsible only looses a year of her life. Folks, this girl killed someone while driving and texting.
