Area man spends time in jail for public drunkenness
A Walker Township man spent several hours in a Tamaqua jail cell on Oct. 11 after his family was unable to deal with his inebriated condition.
George J. Love, 49, of Whitetail Crossing Road, was at a bar in the Dutch Hill area of the borough that morning, when a family member tried to give him a ride home. Love didn’t want to leave, which led to his becoming irate, unruly and abusive. He tried to get out of the family member’s truck several times.
For safety’s sake the family member drove to the Tamaqua Police Station for help.Â
Love told officers he has a drinking problem, which leads to him becoming difficult, stubborn and violent.
He spent several hours in the cell block before being released with a citation for public drunkenness.
