A woman died Saturday morning in a crash on Kattner's Mountain  on Route 903  in Jim Thorpe.

At 9:30 a.m., responders were dispatched for a crash where a young woman heavily entrapped in her car after she struck the patch of black ice traveling south.

Her car slid across the roadway and was struck broadside by a north bound sport utility vehicle.

The Jim Thorpe fire department responded to the scene.

The road was closed while Jim Thorpe police investigated the incident.

That part of Kattner's is always frozen in the winter. What is it going to take to warn people about the dangerous road conditions ahead. Maybe this tragedy could have been prevented if there were warning signs put up to inform drivers of the run off from the mountain becoming in some instances a mound of ice across the entire roadway. My prayers are with the friends and family of those involved.
If it's known so bad why isn't PennDot doing something about it? They, or the police, should be checking that section of road regularly, particularly after rainfall and then a freeze. I can see a huge lawsuit in this.
Always blaming PennDOT... Drivers are the problem. The entire stretch of 903 is treated like Pocono Raceway.
Simple fix = SLOW DOWN!
