Pleasant Valley grand jury report released

Published November 21. 2018 02:35PM

A Monroe County judge has released the report from a Grand Jury which recommended charges against former Pleasant Valley School District superintendent Carole Geary.

Judge Margherita Patti Worthington on Wednesday authorized the release of the grand jury report, as well as responses from former administrators who are named in the report.

The investigation, which began in 2017, resulted in charges against Geary as well as suspended administrator Joshua Krebs and retired administrator Christopher Fisher.

Krebs continues to be suspended with pay. He is also facing perjury charges for allegeldy making false statements to the grand jury.

The grand jury found, among other findings, that administrators promoted a culture of cronyism, bullying, intimidation and retaliation.

They said that much of the bullying has diminished under current Superintendent David Piperato, but they still have concerns about efforts to silence critical voices.

Transparency needs to come to the Lehighton Area School District next.

Proud and eager to help facilitate the advent of transparency within an oppressive district.
The community has been silenced for too long. Sunshine ia a wonderful disinfectant.
