State Police at Schuylkill Haven said the incident happened at 10 a.m. in a wooded area off Peach Mountain Road in Norwegian Township.

The commission received a complaint about a violation and went to the scene to question two men on all terrain vehicles. The two began to fight with the officer and he discharged one round from his duty weapon.

The suspects fled on the ATVs and the officer was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital Schuylkill Medical East campus.

The first suspect is described as white male, between 5 foot, 7 inches and 5 foot, 9 inches. He is between 50 to 60 years old, with long gray hair and a long gray goatee secured with rubber bands.

The second suspect is described as white male, between 5 foot, 7 inches and 5 foot, 9 inches. He is between 50 to 60 years old, with gray facial hair. He was wearing a white ATV helmet during the altercation.

They were not dressed in hunting attire, but wore ATV attire.

One ATV was described as yellow and black and the other was white and silver, possibly a Yamaha.

Anyone with information is asked to call 570-754-4600.

A Game Officer discharges a round???? At What? Over Deer? ATV?
This Game Commission has overstepped it's role 20 years ago, and here's what it gets you.
Discharged a "Round" means the guy got trigger happy. Now the question is, over what?
“Discharged a round” means that the police officer shot at the perpetrators who were committing a felony assault on his person, apparently because the perpetrators did not want to receive a citation for a minor violation and pay a fine.
Anyone, including you Mr. Meyers, who advocates, or appears to advocate, assaulting a police officer is way out of line.
And yes, Game Commission officers are police officers.
The Game Commission's Mission: To manage Pennsylvania's wild birds, wild mammals, and their habitats for current and future generations
Vision: To be the leader among wildlife agencies, and champion of all wildlife resources and Pennsylvania's hunting and trapping heritage
I never said I advocate assault of any kind. My point is, the PGC has evolved to something they never were intended to become. They are supposed to be Wildlife Conservation Officers.
I guess I'm taken back at the thought of bullets flying over... what? a deer?
It didn't even have to be a game official, Anyone with a concealed carry permit who by the description in the article is fearful for their life because they are being assaulted has to right to use force to survive. The fact that it was a Game Commission official who is a law officer of the state makes it justifiable. The fact that the official had to be transported to a hospital definately shows he had just cause. It doesn't say whether he discharged his weapon at the suspects. He could have just fired it to scare them off.
