One flown from turnpike crash

Published February 17. 2018 07:45AM

One person was seriously injured Friday night when involved in a crash along the northeast extension of the Pennsylvania turnpike.

The crash occurred at 8:23 p.m. inside the north bound lanes of the Lehigh Tunnel.

The crash involved a vehicle and a bus. One person in the vehicle was reported to be unconscious.

The victim was extricated from the wreckage and treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics before being flown from the scene by PennStar 5 to the St. Luke’s Hospital Trauma Center in Bethlehem. The medical transport helicopter landed on the north bound roadway just north of the tunnel.

Traffic was backed up for miles.

State police at Pocono are investigating the incident.

I don't doubt that Lehighton paramedics were on scene but your photo clearly shows Palmerton Ambulance and PenStar on the roadway. Perhaps you might mention Palmerton next time as this is their coverage area.
