Jim Thorpe man sentenced to state prison on 19 criminal charges

A Jim Thorpe man was recently sentenced in Carbon County court to a state prison term on 19 criminal charges, some dating back to 2014.

Jesse Franklin Snyder, 37, was sentenced by Judge Steven R. Serfass to serve a total of 48 to 108 months in a state correctional institution.

He was sentenced to serve 24 to 48 months on a charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and 24-60 months on a driving under suspension — DUI-related count. The terms run consecutively.

In all, Snyder entered guilty pleas to the drug count, eight DUI charges, seven driving under suspension — DUI related counts, and one count each of possession of a prohibitive offensive weapon, endangering the welfare of a child (tied to one of the DUI counts), and retail theft.

All the DUI sentences run concurrent with each other as the suspension counts. However, he faces fines totaling $19,000 and license suspensions totaling 11 years on the DUI and suspension charges. Other conditions of his sentences included supplying a DNA sample, community service when paroled, enter an inpatient drug and alcohol treatment program (which he will receive in the state system), and pay court costs.
