Palmerton takes man to court over violations

Published January 03. 2019 01:02PM

Palmerton Borough is taking one of its residents to court over the storage of multiple vehicles with either no registration or an expired registration on his property.

According to a Dec. 26 complaint filed by the borough in Carbon County Court, Larry Rodgers was issued at least 24 nontraffic citations under the International Property Maintenance Code relating to vehicles, and parts or portions of vehicles, on his Edgemont Avenue property since Jan. 1, 2017. On all 24 accounts, the borough added, Rodgers was found guilty in district court.

The borough alleges its code enforcement officer, Clark Ritter, went to Rodgers’ property on Oct. 17 for an inspection, when he found 10 vehicles that were either “inoperative, unlicensed, uninspected, in a state of major disassembly, disrepair or in the process of being stripped and dismantled.”

Rodgers received a notice of violation on Oct. 27, but the borough said he was still in violation of the property maintenance code 30 days later and had not appealed the notice.

The borough has asked the court to order Rodgers to pay a $600 fine for each day the violations have occurred, plus costs and attorney fees. It also seeks an order allowing borough officials, or someone acting on its behalf, to remove the vehicles in violation.

Amen Gary....Diggingout should keep on digging...window licking snowflake.
Pretty sad that Larry never bothers anyone, and most likely owns his home, if you’s don’t like what’s on his property don’t go near his house, it’s not that hard to avoid that little part of town! Why don’t you’s worry about real stuff that goes on in the area and let the man alone!
