State park officials will give an update on the study into overcrowding at Beltzville State Park next week.

The meeting will take place from 4-7 p.m. Jan. 17 at the Towamensing Township Volunteer Fire Company, 105 Firehouse Road, Palmerton.

The meeting, hosted by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Bureau of State Parks, was originally scheduled to be held in November but was rescheduled due to bad weather.

Rep. Doyle Heffley R-Carbon, said, “My office received numerous calls last summer from concerned residents related to overcrowding and parking at the park.”

Heffley said state officials will give an update on the Beltzville use and impact study that has been undertaken to identify and address these problems.

“I encourage anyone interested in the future of Beltzville State Park to attend,” Heffley said.

Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions of representatives from a variety of stakeholder groups, including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, state government, Pennsylvania Game Commission, Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, Penn State University, DCNR park personnel and others.

Just start charging $5.00 a person this might help keeping the bus loads from Filthadelpia from coming up here and peeing & pooping in our lake.
Republican bigotry turned into a chance to make a profit! America is Great Again?
Nobody cares about the local Redneck Trash spitting Chaw and using the F word while their fat ass wives chase after their naked, filthy kids! I guess whiteboy urine and fecal matter is considered a disinfectant? Republican Ignorant Scum runs rampant!
Little diggy way to go with your ignorant slop its things like you that ARE the problem with the human race! oh I am sorry I am assuming your human.
Ohhhh for the good old days of clean, beautiful, and quiet Big Creek. The highway was named Big Creek Pike, not Pohopoco Drive at the lake end and Beltzville Drive at the eastern creek end going to Kresgeville. Kind of ass backwards, isn't it? What's with that?
That might sound like a good idea but all that will do is to push all these people out to the coves around the lake where they can park their asses for free and throw all their garbage there. Sadly, this situation is out of control and will only get worse. The time to put a stop to it was back in the mid sixties when the property owners should have put up a much fiercer fight to stop their land from being taken and Beltzville from being built. Look what happened up on the Delaware at Tocks Island....they took all the farm land under the pretense a flood control dam would be built and it never went through. All the property owners lost everything, now the government leases the lands back to farmers and it's a state park for outside hikers to 'enjoy' themselves.
