Northampton County man gets prison time for mischief count
A Northampton County man was sentenced to a county prison term on Monday after pleading guilty to a criminal mischief count, rated as a felony.
Jordan Hughes, 31, of Bangor, was sentenced by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II to serve three to 18 months in the county prison. The term runs concurrent to a prison term he is serving in Northampton County for a probation violation. In exchange for the plea the district attorney’s office dropped counts of burglary, theft and receiving stolen property.
Assistant District Attorney Brian Gazo told the court that the victim in the case did not want to pursue the more serious charges and only sought a small restitution amount for a broken window Hughes damaged to gain entry to the property.
Hughes was arrested by Franklin Township police with entering a residence along Long Run Road on Nov. 28, 2017, and removing various tools valued at over $10,000. The tools were all recovered.
Nanovic also ordered Hughes to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, supply a DNA sample, pay court costs of about $1,000, make restitution of $60 and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole.
