Schuylkill County coroner Dr. David J. Moylan has identified the man killed in a crash Friday evening on Route 443 in West Penn Township as Ronald Bauer, 54, of Lehighton.

Bauer was pronounced dead at 8:20 p.m. by deputy coroner Andrew Szczyglak.

The initial conclusion is that Bauer died of blunt-force trauma due to the crash. A CT scan will be performed on his body late this afternoon, Moylan said.

The crash was reported just after 7:30 p.m. on the stretch near Mantzville Road. According to emergency reports, Bauer was ejected from the vehicle.

Bauer’s death was the third fatality in West Penn Township in less than a week.

On Wednesday morning, Nicholas Sadusky, 19, of MaryD was killed in a three-car crash along Route 309.

Township police said the incident occurred at 9 a.m. when a 1999 Ford Mustang driven by Sadusky was traveling south at a high rate of speed in the area of 309 and Blue Mountain Drive. Sadusky attempted to pass two vehicles in the northbound lane and sideswiped a Toyota Corolla before going head-on into an Audi wagon.

On March 11, Matthew Fannock, 21, of Andreas, was killed at 6 a.m. in a crash on Route 309, just past the Leiby’s intersection.

Police said the crash occurred when the vehicle Fannock was riding in crossed the road and hit a small tree, flipping several times before coming to rest on the shoulder.
