2019 primary election: Ahner seeks nomination for Carbon County Commissioner

Rocky Ahner announces his candidacy for Carbon County Commissioner.

Ahner’s experience in private industry, running his own business for over 30 years, and his community involvement makes him uniquely qualified.

Rocky was raised in Franklin Township, the son of the late Charles and Arlene (Nutch) Ahner.

Ahner attended Carbon County Technical Institute, graduated from Lehighton High School and was employed at both The New Jersey Zinc Company and Mack Trucks. His knowledge in industry and local business has prepared him with the ability to make common-sense decisions for the residents of Carbon County.

Ahner has extensive community involvement and leadership experience. A past president of the Lehighton Area School Board and a member on the Carbon County Technical Institute Authority, he also served on the Pennsylvania School Board Association as Assistant Director of Region 8 and a delegate to the National School Boards Association in Washington, D.C. He is a lifetime member of the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company and member of Lehighton American Legion Post 314.

Ahner has been an instrumental volunteer of the Franklin Township Athletic Association, Lehighton Drug & Alcohol Task Force, coordinator of the Lehighton Coaster races and a current member of Lehighton “MainStreet” steering committee. Ahner says “Giving back is where my focus has been and will continue as a Carbon County Commissioner.”

Speaking several times in Harrisburg and Washington, D.C., Ahner always had the best interest of the people in our county, whether it was for funding, school nutrition or a bipartisan House Bill.

Rocky says: “My objective is to keep taxes low. Period.” This can be achieved by understanding the entire budget.

Ahner’s vision for Carbon County is to cultivate the job market and add essential steps that he feels are missing in the drug and alcohol addiction battle, which would reduce the prison recidivism burden on the taxpayer.

Rocky and his wife, Connie, reside in Lehighton.
