Naked man enters Palmerton home and refuses to leave, faces charges

Published April 03. 2018 11:54AM

A Palmerton man is in prison after entering another person’s home stark naked.

Stephen Susel, 50, faces charges on one count each of indecent exposure, criminal trespass and disorderly conduct

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Sgt. Christopher Ritter of the borough police department:

At 12:43 a.m. March 24, Ritter was dispatched to the 800 block of Mauch Chunk Road for a complaint of a man walking around the area while naked who entered a private residence.

Ritter was summoned to the front door when the victim yelled for Ritter to hurry because Susel was still in her house.

Ritter entered to find Susel standing in the living room, completely naked and sweating profusely.

Upon seeing Ritter, Susel began to head for the back door despite commands to stop, and he only complied after Ritter drew his Taser and ordered him to the floor.

After being handcuffed and raised to his feet, Susel tensed up and attempted to pull away, causing Ritter to use moderate force to keep him under control.

Susel’s skin was sweaty and hot to the touch, his pupils were dilated, his muscles were rigid, and he spoke in a rapid manner, all indicators of the use of a stimulant drug.

After Susel was secured, Ritter spoke further with the victim, who said Susel walked in her unlocked front door, went to the kitchen, and started knocking things off the countertop and pushing buttons on the microwave while muttering to himself.

The victim ordered Susel repeatedly to leave, however he ignored her commands and continued his actions until his arrival.

Susel is currently incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $40,000, 10 percent bail.

He is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday before District Judge William Kissner of Palmerton.

And they say immigrant caravans are our greatest threat?!? Build a wall around local drug addicts and dealers.
Mr Susel is a life-long resident of Carbon County. In better days, he was a record-setting baseball player for Palmerton High School, a graduate of East Stroudsburg University, and a former employee of a number of well regarded local businesses. Walls will not solve these problems.
Must these entities be given a black eye for employing this person, "in the past"? What do these charges have to do with his past employment and schooling? Impertinent and senseless...
You may all say what you wish ..I have a 10 year old grandchild in my home that lived with me since day one ..He needs constant supervision and is a threat to our neighborhood ..Times News info is wrong my backdoor latch is broke upon him entering ..Front door always locked since he moved in ..NO GOOD ..Several arrests recent March 18th before this incident only 6 days may i add and had meth and heroin ...I will take whatever steps necessary to protect my home and grandchildren ..He is lucky he is still breathing ..I will do everything in my power to keep neighborhood and its children safe ..Daycare at end of block and kids pass house for schoolbus ..This happened at 12:43 pm in broad daylight several neighbors called 911 ..WOULD you like him running through your neighborhood or yard naked ..Let alone your home a childs sanctuary...Safety is definitely an issue. THE MOST DANGEROUS PLACE TO BE IS BETWEEN A GRANDMOTHER AND HER GRANDCHILDREN
Wow! And you jumped 5280 for mentioning a couple businesses. The context of which I believe was this person was a decent guy that worked for these decent businesses. Stay away from drugs or you might end up 50 years old, naked, standing in a strangers kitchen, and about to get your naked butt tased by Police.

Ohh it's Carbon County remember I think you meant "Do the meth people..."
Nope don't feel any different - still feel the same - just saying. I wasn't looking to put anyone in their place. What's with the huge chip on your shoulder? You ok?

I do live in Carbon County, and I'm certainly not a big man here. I've never worked in the County I don't even know if that would be possible. I've always had to travel.
UPDATE CARBON COUNTY ...This man was arrested on Friday night August 24th between the hours of 9 and10 pm ..This time my granddaughter and I attended the first Palmerton Football Game ..Thank god ..He was hiding under neighbors table again half dressed ..Resisted arrest and BLAH BLAH BLAH ...Lets see what they do with him NOW ..He only sat 24 days in CCF ..So as i wrote let the county chase their tails around ...So shameful..He damaged screen while i was gone ..REALLY, tried to enter here again at some point my house is protected and locked up like Fort Knox ... That is a death wish with my granddaughter in my home he would not be breathing a second time around ..On probation ??? What is going on in that courthouse and in our townships ? Stop voting for Doyle Heffley been in 8 years NO CHANGE ..I did my best to sentence him the first time correctly
