Warrant issued for former West Penn officer

A warrant has been issued for a former West Penn Township police officer charged with several traffic citations in Lehigh County.

Anthony Houser, 28, Tamaqua, was cited for an incident that occurred at 1:20 a.m. Feb. 4 along Route 100 and Holbens Valley Road, Lowhill Township.

Houser has been cited for accidents involving damage to unattended vehicle or property, stop signs and yield signs, and other traffic citations.

Earlier this month, township supervisors accepted Houser’s resignation from the police department.

Houser had been working as a part-time officer with the department.

Contacted this morning, township Police Chief Brian Johnson said he was familiar with the incident.

“He resigned officially on his own,” Johnson said. “I am aware of the incident, that had some bearing on our decisions here for him to resign.”
