Invasive species

Dear Editor:

Like the spotted lanternfly, the gypsy moth or the Burmese python, feral house cats are an invasive species.

They prey on native species like the garter snake, the Eastern bluebird, and the red-spotted newt. Because they have fur and look like “Tabby,” many people get emotional about them and go to great lengths to protect them.

It is time we begin to think about what is good for our ecosystem and stop making policy based on sentiment.

The cat “compromise” in Palmerton protects feral cats at the expense of a large number of birds and animals they will inevitably kill.

State Rep. John Rogers of Alabama was quoted to say this, "Some kids are unwanted, so you kill them now or you kill them later. You bring them in the world unwanted, unloved, you send them to the electric chair. So, you kill them now or you kill them later,"
If I said the same of, say, a cat? Boy oh boy, many would have me strung up on a hate crime.
The Alabama State Rep (Dem), continued, by saying some children who face abortion could be "retarded" and "half-deformed."
So if it's OK to kill babies, even after a botched abortion, why is it so wrong to kill this overpopulation of cats? Here's the answer... The cat is only an inconvenience to reptiles, birds, and animals, but babies are an inconvenience to people. Get things in perspective folks.
Sounds like an issue for the Alabama voters and not for PA. Unless you can show me that Rogers is in charge of the Democratic platform nationally your post is just a partisan attempt to paint all with a single brush.

I can play that way too. Dennis Hastert is a republican and at one time was the most powerful Republican in the country when he was speaker. Hastert is a child molester, a serial one.

My post wasn't intended to be partisan, sorry about the conviction. Again, my point is clear.
We have come to where we concern more about animals, than we do people. Let's try this one... The construction of a Cancer Care Center will be put on hold because of a protected toad. We're loosing perspective. God breathed life into man, not the animals.
As for Hastert? I'm a TEA Party member. I keep telling you that. Republicans just happen to be the lesser of evil among the two parties.
In 1999 Trump was yucking it up with the Clintons. I think it's great that he has changed in his ways. You're just a "Never Trumper". Didn't I tell you that I too was against Trump? Glenn Beck, who I have much respect for, also resisted boarding the Trump Train. He's our president, and he's doing really well for the whole country. I'm not sure what your beef is, but hey, that's your prerogative.
You can't deny a robust economy. You can't dispute the respect he has brought back to America... or maybe you will. You seem to be all about dispute. I'll never help you there, as I too can be one who disputes.

Average hourly earnings growth held at 3.2% over the past year, a notch below Dow Jones estimates of 3.3%. The monthly gain was 0.2%, below the expected 0.3% increase, bringing the average to $27.77. The average work week also dropped 0.1 hours to 34.4 hours.
Unemployment was last this low in December 1969 when it hit 3.5%. At a time when many economists see a tight labor market, big job growth continues as the economic expansion is just a few months away from being the longest in history.
All this while Democrats did nothing to contribute. Rather, Democrats fought, and resisted our President at every turn. The Democrats are about to be revealed for who they are. If you support Democrats, you'll soon find out, you're on the wrong side of history. We won't miss you either.

Is this enough for you? I was never a Sunday School Teacher though. I guess I was too busy fighting. I don’t even like listing this stuff. I don’t like braggers. I don’t like condescending questions like yours either Joe. Please don’t reduce yourself. Sometimes the smartest, richest, best person in the room doesn’t have a big resume’. Joe, here is the bottom line. You are an a**hole. You are rude and condescending. You repeatedly refuse to acknowledge the accomplishments of President Trump. As those accomplishments pile up, to the level that can not be reasonably ignored, then we turn to other deflections. First we get the “tribalism” insult, as though we are too dumb to think for ourselves and need to be told what to think. That is shallow and rude. Next, we get the “level of education” insult. This deflection is of course intended to give a reason to deny reality. Oh, you aren’t smart enough to express an opinion. Or, no wonder your opinion is wrong. No wonder you don’t hate President Trump like you should, Right? You aren’t educated enough. Next, in the face of defeat, we then have, usually, your education is from the wrong place or not enough to “qualify” one for a “real” opinion. Now we have denial once again. I never brag about my accomplishments. I do not consider myself to be a hero. The heroes didn’t come home. Far more native species are killed by humans than by cats. Every time you use weed killers and pesticides on your lawn you are killing native plants, birds, and insects. House cats do not even come close.
Wait, if they call them house cats, why are they running wild, and in the streets? Just curious.
I want to make sure we're talking the same critters here.
I know I'm way late to this party. And if anyone ever reads this. I just want to say that every time someone complains about an 'invasive species', just try to remember the one that did the most damage -- the Caucasian variety of Homo sapiens sapiens. Look at what we've wrought.
