Two local family physicians have joined St. Luke’s University Health Network.

John Bosi, DO, has joined the network as of June 1. His practice remains at its current location in Nesquehoning and is now named St. Luke’s Anthracite Primary Care.

“I am very excited about this change and the opportunities it brings to all of us to provide you with the highest quality health care close to where you work and live,” Dr. Bosi says. “Joining St. Luke’s ensures we will continue to provide care to patients for many years to come.”

As part of St. Luke’s, patients also have access to many other important and needed services throughout St. Luke’s University Health Network including obstetrics and gynecology, emergency care, heart and vascular services, home health and hospice, neuroscience, cancer care, orthopedics, sports medicine, physical therapy and weight loss.

Kelly Machalik, regional manager of St. Luke’s Physician Group, says, “I’m happy that patients in the community will continue to be able to receive care from Dr. Bosi, now as part of St. Luke’s. Dr. Bosi’s entire practice and all of St. Luke’s is 100 percent committed to patients and their families.”

St. Luke’s Anthracite Primary Care is located at 426 West Railroad Ave., Suite 1, Nesquehoning. Dr. Bosi sees patients of all ages and new patients are welcome. To make an appointment, call 272-639-5035.

A board-certified family doctor, Robert Harkins, MD, has joined St. Luke’s Orwigsburg Primary Care.

He will see children, adults and seniors at the practice located at 209 East Market St. in Orwigsburg.

As part of St. Luke’s, Dr. Harkins’ patients will have access to many important and needed services throughout St. Luke’s University Health Network including obstetrics and gynecology, emergency care, heart and vascular services, home health and hospice, neuroscience, cancer care, orthopedics, sports medicine, physical therapy and weight loss. Later this year, the new 80-bed, acute-care Geisinger St. Luke’s Hospital will open in Orwigsburg.

As a physician, he said, “I practice evidence-based medicine and I believe it is very important for patients to be able to understand why particular medications or treatments are being recommended or prescribed. I always spend time encouraging my patients to ask questions, and to do whatever they can to help themselves.”

Dr. Harkins has been practicing family medicine in Orwigsburg since 1987.

He grew up in Coatesville, and graduated from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. He received his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine and completed his residency at Reading Hospital.

To make an appointment with Dr. Harkins, call 272-639-5040.

The professional staffing that now comes with this change for Dr. Bosi was the best move he could have made. I think this is wonderful for his practice and I wish them all luck working together in the St. Luke’s Network.
Yea like all Family Practice Doctors wish to become an infamous cog in a health care machine. It isn’t good for any of these Doctors. It’s join the system or get run out of business.

These guys just lost all control of their practice. The Corporate shills are already infiltrating their practices. It’s now make money the St. Lukes way - We’ll TELL you what you’re going to do and HOW you’re going to do it.

All St. Lukes everything...Don’t believe me just watch.
