Barnesville Dollar general takes shape

  • Empty

Construction crews began erecting the planned Dollar General Store on Route 54 in Barnesville earlier this month. The 9,000-square-foot store, seen here last week, is the first to be constructed in the area between Mahanoy City and Hometown. Ryan Township zoners gave approval late last year to grant a variance to allow the commercial venture in a residential district. Directly to the rear and on the same parcel is the historic, 25,000-square-foot Lakeside Ballroom, which maintains an existing nonconforming use. DONALD R. SERFASS/SPECIAL TO THE TIMES NEWS
