The Governor’s plan ill-advised

Published June 20. 2019 01:37PM

Gov. Tom Wolf’s plan to tax the state’s natural gas is ill-advised, in my opinion. Natural gas is added to the country’s pool of natural gas, much like the electricity grid. I have been getting my electricity from the state of Texas for years because it is among the lowest in the country. Pennsylvania’s natural gas is among the lowest in the country. Taxing the gas will result in less corporate income taxes coming from the northeastern portion of the state as well.

In a give and take... Natural Gas is cleaner than oil, gasoline, emits half as much carbon dioxide, less than one-third the nitrogen oxides, and 1 percent as much sulfur oxides as coal combustion, so there is a trade off. But first, let's consider all the fake claims against fracking.
For America, it's the golden years of gas. Consider the bargaining power Natural Gas gives us against folks like the Iran, Russia, OPEC. Drill Baby Drill
Come on Joe. Let us see you ride a bicycle to work. Let us see you “rely on renewables...and put...countries out of business.” You can not legislate scientific advancement. You must encourage advancement as you use what you have. In that way you develop energy independence(good). Otherwise, you accept a Smart Car as a luxury vehicle. Ever ride in one of those? That is what happens when you legislate 50+ MPG. You need a little, light car with a sewing machine engine until technology advances. Come on Joe. Get real. Liberal weakness will never put any country out of business. Only, perhaps ours...if we allow it.
