Update: One dead, one flown from Lehigh River incident
The body of a young man was pulled from the Lehigh River Tuesday evening near the Glen Onoko area of the Lehigh Gorge State Park.
The man was first reported unaccounted for after he made his way through some rapids and lost control. He went under and did not resurface.
Divers of the Lehighton fire department had to remove two young males and a female from the center of the river.
One male companion who tried to save the victim had taken in too much water and the determination was made by Lehighton paramedics to fly him by helicopter to a Lehigh Valley trauma center.Â
The distress call came in shortly before 6 p.m.
