Argentine tango at Miller Symphony Hall
Miller Symphony Hall, in Allentown, welcomes two award-winning bands, both led by women, for a night of intense, passionate music from Argentina at 7:30 p.m. July 28.
These bands are shaking up the traditional music of the city (tango) and the music of the Argentine countryside (folklore) with their original compositions. Argentine Latin Grammy nominee MarÃÂa Volonté and Kevin Footer, harmonica, explore the crossroads of tango and blues with special guests MavÃÂ DÃÂaz & Las Folkies with their original compositions, feminine point of view and electrifying live performances.
There will be a preconcert tango lesson at 6 p.m. The dance floor will be available for tango dancers and Argentine folk dancers throughout the concert and afterward for a Milonga (tango social dance).
Light fare and a cash bar will be available.
