Walnutport plans to fix fencing that’s been damaged at its playground.

At a workshop session on Thursday, borough council on a 4-0 vote agreed to spend $2,764 to repair the fencing at its basketball and tennis courts at the Walnutport Playground on Lincoln Avenue.

Council agreed to have Tri-Boro Fencing Contractors do the work. Council members Harold Greene, Joan Rehrig and council President William Turk were absent.

Councilman David Stankovic said the fencing is in need of repairs.

“That fence is horrible,” Stankovic said. “There’s razor sharp pieces hanging there.”

However, council noted it likely won’t be for about another four weeks until the fencing could be repaired.

Councilman Michael Gaston said the damage to the fencing isn’t merely a matter of wear and tear.

“I think eventually we should get a camera,” Gaston said. “That damage is being done intentionally.”

After the meeting, Councilwoman Jennifer Wentz assured the situation would be addressed.

“Nobody’s in danger of being injured,” Wentz said.
