Family Dollar coming to Gilbert
Another dollar store is coming to the West End Plaza on Route 209 in Gilbert.
Plans have been announced for a Family Dollar in the two stores bordering Weir Lake Road that once housed National Auto.
The square footage will be 8,775 feet.
A Dollar Tree is located on the opposite end of the franchise.
Plans for a Gerrity’s Supermarket in the Mount Effort Shopping Plaza are still in the works.
The Chestnuthill Township supervisors are still reviewing plans for Gerrity’s Supermarket at the Mount Effort Shopping Plaza.
The space was previously the Hilltop Market, which burned down in 2007.
“They received preliminary plan approval for that site,” said zoning officer Matthew Neeb.
“The next step would be that Gerrity’s would submit to the township a final land development plan for that particular building. It would go through the planning process and the supervisors’ approval.”
There is still no set date for the Gerrity’s to be finalized. Much of this hangs in the applicant’s hands, due to specific ordinances that must be followed. The Gerrity’s will be 40,000 square feet, while the project as a whole will end up being 114,000.
Plans must be reviewed by the county, and sewage permits must be obtained. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation must give approval.
Neeb said, “Best case scenario, it would be three months.”
Besides Gerrity’s, there have been a variety of different proposals for the plaza. Some of them include medical offices, diners, and a park and ride facility. Neeb said that much of the public is excited to have a closer supermarket they could use.
