Ready or not, Christmas is just around the corner.

At least in Lehighton, where the Lehighton Downtown Initiative will hold its second annual Christmas in July event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the borough park.

The event, which will be held in conjunction with the Lehighton Downtown Farmers Market, expects to be even bigger and better than last year’s inaugural event, according to Bambi Elsasser, treasurer of the LDI.

“This event has doubled in size from a vendor standpoint,” Elsasser said. “The whole lower park around the fountain will be completely filled with crafters and vendors from First Street to Constitution Avenue.”

Elsasser said the fun-filled event will afford visitors the opportunity to enjoy the Christmas decorations as they stroll through the Farmers Market and listen to live Christmas music.

“Shopping will be at a premium, with over 70 crafters and small business vendors galore,” she said. “What better time to start your Christmas shopping.”

Elsasser said special Christmas treats will also be available, including the Farmers Market trademark iced hot chocolate, and cautioned not to forget that special visit from Santa as he enjoys his summer vacation in the borough.

“The Farmers Market will remain open until 3 p.m. so everyone can enjoy their weekly market shopping, as well as picking up those wonderful Christmas presents for either themselves or for that special someone,” she said. “Food and beverages will be available to satisfy your appetite.”
