Six communities dispatched resources Wednesday to help in rescuing a woman

from the trail to the Glen Onoko Falls. The incident began at 1:41 p.m. when it was reported a woman fell off the trail through some trees, suffering head and facial injuries.

Rescuers learned she was also suffering a leg injury.

The operation took three hours to bring the victim to safety. She was treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics then transported to the Lehigh Valley hospital trauma center in Allentown. The woman was described as being in her mid to late twenties.

Responding were the Jim Thorpe, Lehighton, Nesquehoning, Beaver Meadows, Penn Forest and Lehigh - Lausanne townships fire companies.

How many of these incidents are drug and alcohol related? Times News should report that number.

Also, if the EMTs accept they are going to spent a good percent of their lives rescuing these dummies, there should be a helo-pad at the top of the mountain. it seems most of these fall happen near the top. It is easier to transport 'victim' up a little than down a lot.
Mike, thank you for your informed opinion. It's nice to know there are people out there to pass judgement on things they know nothing about. That was my friend, and I was there with her. Neither of us were drinking nor using drugs. We've both hiked there before along with many other places. We were both wearing proper hiking boots and taking our time. The trail is extremely difficult and usually pretty slick due to following a waterfall. It's not the first trail we've done like that, and it won't be the last. Accidents happen through no fault of anyone. If you understood the effects that traumatic day had on both of us, you might think twice before mouthing off about an incident you were not involved in. My friend is going through a painful and long recovery, and I'm still dealing with the emotional trauma of hearing my best friend falling off of the trail. Your ignorance of the situation isn't helping anyone.
Maybe it was just an accident, and the assumptions you are making are not applicable? That she is a dummy, and drugs or alcohol were involved...
