It instills a sense of patriotism among students.

That was exactly the idea behind the annual Pledge of Allegiance assembly held Tuesday at Peters Elementary School.

The assembly was once again carried out by the R.W. Fritzinger VFW Post 7215 Auxiliary of Walnutport.

Led by Karen Bandzi, auxiliary president, kindergarten pupils participated in the activity.

Principal James Schnyderite said the students enjoyed the program.

“Along with teachers and staff, the students enjoyed learning the history of the Pledge of Allegiance, and proudly recited the Pledge of Allegiance as a group,” Schnyderite said. “A personalized Pledge of Allegiance certificate, American flag, pencil and token was awarded for taking part in the assembly, and for demonstrating pride in our country and flag.”

This marked the 16th year for the program.

I hope when the history of the pledge was taught I hope they told them how the :under god: was force on everyone ... and how it was present in the original writing
when kids are young they do what they are told... That is why the churches want them young so they can influence them with religion.. And the religious forced the under god part through their representatives because they had to prove they were better then the godless communists..If you would have done just a little bit of research you would have known that. and I have two kids and eight grand kids and I don't like the religious BS being forced on them.
