PV's Schaffner advances to D11 3A quarters

Pleasant Valley's Josh Schaffner advanced to the quarterfinals Monday at the District 11 Class 3A singles tournament. The junior defeated Parkland's Dan Zolatarev 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) in the second round after topping Quinn Erk of Emmaus in his first match. Schaffner will play Whitehall's Nick Rohn Wednesday in the quarterfinals.

Palmerton's Andress reaches D11 2A quarters

Palmerton's Nate Andress advanced to the quarterfinals Monday at the District 11 Class 2A singles tournament. The senior defeated Pen Argyl's Brendan McMahon 6-1, 6-4 in the second round after topping Allentown Central Catholic's Andy Feng 6-0, 6-0 in his first match. Andress will play No. 3 seed Michael Swope of Palisades Wednesday in the quarters.
