On Saturday, Carbon County celebrated two Special Olympic athletes, Delina Rodrigues and Mathew Anthony, with a ceremony at Palmerton Park. Rodrigues won a gold in the world Special Olympics, while Anthony won at nationals. When the Palmerton Area High School Band began to play, Rodrigues and Anthony marched into the park, accompanied by members of the Palmerton United Veteran’s Organization.
The Palmerton tennis team won its first match of the season Tuesday, 4-1 over Lehighton. Nate Andress and Lucas Christman won in singles action for the Bombers. Andress, the team's returning No. 1 singles player, talks about taking on more of a leadership role this year.
